Poitraits (2009-2011)
Poitraits are a series of mixed media works that visually explores the various cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the people who call Maui home. Each individual work is a part of the overall piece, just as each person is part of the entire island community.
Conceptually, Poitraits comments on the multicultural aspects of
21st century Hawai'i. How do these people from such diverse cultural, societal, and ethnicities reflect who and where we are? Why is this important when looking at the nature of our civilization during this particular time and at this particular location?
In 2011, the entire Poitraits series was installed in the Poi Dog exhibition at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
